Grosse Tête Welcome Station

We are back in mudbug country. This is the welcome station in Iberville Parish, Louisiana. There’s crawfish crawling in the bayou if you’re looking for lunch. But there ain’t no fish swimming in the fish tank. — The baby gators ate them all.

And if you’re scratching your head over the name of this town, Grosse Tete means “Big Head” in French. So don’t scratch that head too much, cher. It might get too big for your bonnet.

Jim and I are back in Cajun Country for our Louisiana Christmas. And we left this little Cajun way station on our journey west after a nose rub with three jolly Cajun kitty cats. Okay, two of them actually looked kinda sleepy, like they danced too much at the Fais Do-Do last night.

As we drove away, we waved goodbye to the giant crawfish statue standing on the bayou. And cher! — That mudbug waved right back!
