Remembering 9/11

Today we all are remembering the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.

The first photo of the iron cross beams was taken in 2002 during a visit to New York, where I spoke to an international group on the subject of crisis communications. We toured the wrecked site of the World Trade Center, which still was being cleared of debris. Workers had found this iron cross in the rubble and placed it on a point high above the area as a symbol of inspiration.

The last three photos were taken in 1999 from the top of the World Trade Center two years before it was destroyed. Jim and I were in Brooklyn for another conference and took the subway over to Manhattan to see the World Trade Center. The top of the building was so high that some visitors quickly returned to the elevators because they could not tolerate it. You see me clutching the railings as Jim took a picture using my old digital Mavica camera from the 1990s.
